From DeviceVM: I have desinstalled it.
Seems to add a Search toolbar in Internet Explorer. Search engine depends on your location. Europe is Yahoo
Apart from using memory space i don't see any use of it.
I suspect it slows down PC startup.
The process takes about 146 mb of memory.
Installs with Asus (and other Mobos). It claims to be "an easy-to-install, easy-to-use, powerful search engine. In addition, it lets you easily access on-line social games." However it seems to have no apparent interface nor does it appear to improve IE or Firefox based address bar searching. Looks like unnecessary bloatware as it runs as a service with a lot of system hooks.
Also has a memory leak. On my Win7 system this thing is now 811MB!!! clearly it has a problem of some kind.
for something so apparently useless and or harmless, it sure is DIFFICULT to remove through traditional means. its a bit suspect if u ask me. and with the control it has and the potential for maleware to rename itself in its place, id just as soon see it gone from my process list. Uninstalling as soon as i find my motherboard cd is my next course of action.
Sometimes bcu.exe gives full 1-core cpu load(25% if you are quad core) and makes system not response immediately.
In my case the memory usage of bcu.exe was only 1141KB
The memory Commit Charge for this process was 2GB on my system and may be why I am currently getting 'Out of Memory' error messages even after upgrading from 4GB of RAM to 6GB. I never noticed it in the Process list before but the file folders in the directory are dated to the date I installed windows on this new machine with a Gigabyte MB.
